inter- is a performative work that considers various forms of labor involved in resource value, conservation and allocation, including the specialized labor of biologists, economists and stock assessors, the skilled labor of commercial fisherpeople, the manual labor of factory workers in seafood production, the labor of tribal communities, the labor of consumers, and so forth. By highlighting these modes of labor, we can understand the individual effort to be inseparable from the functionality of the collaborative effort, the interdependence of efforts for resource management to be a complex choreography.

Based upon a research project spearheaded by Cat Ross, this work is the synthesis of observations during at sea surveys, vessel and lab tours, access to information and interviews not only within the various departments of the agency but within the industries of recreational fishing, commercial fishing, seafood production, and policy making. The scope for this project was to consider the individual efforts that weave in collaboration with others in order to gain a deeper understanding of the complexities of resource management and the basis of ecology in modern day economies.
